Microsoft to equip viral Ghanaian rural IT teacher
Remember this Ghanaian teacher whose photos broke the internet after he was pictured teaching IT to his students on a blackboard without computers?
Well, Microsoft has promised to send him new computers and equipments to enhance his teachings.
Richard Appiah Akoto's school did not have the resources to buy computers, so he improvised and showed students using coloured chalk.
His 'needs must' attitude has resulted in Microsoft stepping in to help out.
The computer giant said it would send him free equipment and free access to online resources.
His story was brought to the attention of Microsoft by entrepreneur Rebecca Enonchong who tweeted the company to point that he was teaching the use of their product without having physical access to it.
'Surely you can get him some proper resources,' she suggested.
On Tuesday, the software giant acted on her request.
The information and computer technology (ICT) teacher has been contacted by Microsoft after the images were shared thousands of times online.
