My Manifesto: What I intend to do if I am elected into office as the PRO of the NSA, Wisconsin.

                          The upcoming NSA elections

Good day Dean of students, electoral chairman, NSA executives, students and fellow aspirants.
My names are Franklin Okechukwu Bernard, a 200 level student of the Department of Media and Communication studies in this respectable University.

I am contesting for the position the Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Students Association (NSA) Wisconsin chapter.

I have passion for leadership and public service, a friendly and hardworking individual who believes in building bridges and not walls.

The field of PR needs someone dynamic, creative and intelligent; and these three attributes, I believe are well embedded in my core values.

I also believe that for you to build a sustainable institution or organization, mutual respect and relation coupled with good and well-structured communication as well proper information management is always the key.

WHY I AM CONTESTING FOR THIS POSITION
Like I said earlier in the letter presented to the electoral commission, I discovered that the NSA is somehow out-of-touch with the Nigerian students in the school.

I also found out that there is obvious disunity among Nigerian students of Wisconsin, which I thought may be as a result of lack of mutual relation between the students and the NSA leadership.

So, in order to rebuild the broken trust and relationship between the Nigerian students and the NSA, I made up my mind to run for this office.

I hope that with better relationship and understanding among Nigerians in Wisconsin, we would be able to tackle together some of the many challenges we all face in this school.

I still want to restate that good communication and proper information management is key to building functional institutions and organizations: and that I know I am good at.

MY VISION
To unite together a family of Nigerians in Wisconsin where we all share a common interest to succeed, care for each other, live and study happily under an atmosphere of love and support for one another.

WHAT I INTEND TO DO IF ELECTED
Firstly, I want to clarify one of the question thrown at me during my vetting, that was in the area of my knowledge about the new media or as we all know it, social media.

I joined Facebook and Yahoo mail in 2008, nearly 10 years ago. My twitter handle dates as far back as 2010, that is 7 years ago. I joined Instagram as soon as I became aware of the platform, followed by WhatsApp in 2012.

Aside from this, I got my first Diploma in Desktop Publishing in the year 2010 and had worked with at least 2 media production companies.

So, my point here is that when it comes to making use of the above mediums in managing, packaging and dissemination of information, I believe I will be able to handle that in a more professional way.

1.      Ones I am elected into office; the first task I will take up is to fetch mainly the WhatsApp contacts of virtually all the Nigerian students in the school.

However, while working on that, I will create new platforms purposely for socialization, interactions and disseminating of appropriate information about the NSA activities and events, or perhaps still make use of the existing platforms if available.

This I believe will be the first important step towards bringing back the students together as one family, as well as being in touch with all Nigerians in the school.

2  ⧪  In consultation with the NSA executives, I hope to do my best in organizing new and more refreshing social events to entertain, educate and provide a platform for socialization among Nigerians in the school.

3⧭    Examples of such events are educative and motivational seminars, fun trips, outreach to the less privileged, end of semester get-together and of course our beloved annual Independence day celebration.

4⧭    I will, to the best of my ability, re-brand and repackage the NSA of Wisconsin in a more attractive way as it will help us woo donors for fundraising.

5⧪    I will also identify and solicit for support and sponsorship from prominent individuals, business men and women, as well organizations and institutions, probably by making them understand or know what they stand to gain from us if they support us.

6⧪   Lastly, I spoke with the incoming SRC PRO, and he revealed to me some of the interesting initiatives he intends to bring on campus such as the WISCONSIN GOT TALENT and THE FACE OF WISCONSIN. We would make sure that a sizable number of Nigerians participates in this shows and hopefully emerge winners in their respective categories.

In conclusion, with all I have said, I believe I have convinced you all. Therefore, when you think of a PRO for the NSA, think Franklin Okechukwu Bernard. Vote Franklin Okechukwu Bernard for Innovative ideas, growth and timely delivery.
